I’ve always found myself drawn to the outdoors. When I went away to college at SUNY New Paltz, one of the draws was the small town with close access to the Catskills. I would often venture to Minnewaska State Park on days when I didn’t have afternoon classes, or when I just decided being outdoors was more important than my class. For me, nature's allure has always been the profound beauty that surrounds us, reminding us what a beautiful world we live in, despite the ugliness we see from time to time. From the majestic mountains to the gentle rustling of leaves, nature captivates our senses and touches our souls. Beyond its breathtaking landscapes, nature holds the power to inspire, invigorate, and awaken the creativity within us.
Nature's Allure

Rocky Mountain Monolith
Take in the stunning beauty of Hallett Peak, majestically rising above the tranquil Dream Lake in the heart of Rocky Mountain National Park. This breathtaking fine art print captures the essence of winter, with the snow-capped peak standing tall amidst a sea of evergreens, including spruce, fir, and pine trees. The crisp, pristine snow blankets the mountain, creating a stark contrast against the rich, deep green of the trees below. This stunning piece is the perfect addition to any nature-lover's home, capturing the raw power and serenity of one of the country's most beautiful national parks.
I find solace in nature. Amidst the chaos of daily life, nature offers an escape. Sometimes I find comfort in a serene forest, a still lake, or a vibrant garden. Nature's tranquility often soothes my mind when I am stressed and rejuvenates my spirit. When I am out photographing, I use the time and space nature provides for reflection, introspection, and deep connection with our inner selves. I always return feeling renewed, and more at peace than when I left. One of the benefits of photographing nature, is that just looking at the photos can have a positive mental impact.

The Wood Between The Worlds
Sunbeams stream down into the misty old growth forest at Cape Falcon, Oregon, just south of Cannon Beach. The old growth forest serves as a sort of buffer between the rugged coastline of Oregon, and the mountains further inland, reminding me of the fabled wood from the Chronicles of Narnia. This photo captures the peaceful landscape of an ancient forest, as light filters through the Sitka Spruce trees, casting a warm, inviting glow. With its rich, vibrant colors and masterful composition, this photo is the epitome of natural beauty and tranquility.
Nature is a source of inspiration for me. The boundless beauty serves as an endless wellspring of inspiration. Its colors, patterns, and intricate designs ignite my imagination and fuels my creativity. From the delicate petals of a flower to the sprawling canopy of a forest, to towering spires of mountain peaks, nature's artistry urges us to see the world through fresh eyes and find inspiration in the simplest of details.

Spring Morning in Monument Cove
Waves wash over the cobblestone beach of Monument Cove on a spring morning in Acadia National Park, Maine.
In the embrace of nature, we reconnect with our primal instincts and rediscover our place in the web of life. We witness the interdependence of all living things and the delicate balance of ecosystems. This reminder of our interconnectedness fosters a sense of humility and encourages us to become stewards of the environment.

Spring in Paradise
Edith Creek pours over Myrtle Falls in the Paradise section of Mount Ranier National Park, Washington.
Nature's beauty and inspiration continually draw me to visit natural spaces, to photograph them, that I might be able to bring some piece of that natural beauty home with me. I always find that I feel better after having been out to photograph a sunrise or a sunset, enjoying the rhythms of nature, the colors, the beauty.

The Low Country
The Atlantic Ocean flows over the boneyard beach at Botany Bay Plantation on Edisto Island, South Carolina, at dawn. These husks of wood are all that remains of once mighty oak trees, eroded by wind, sand, and water over time.

Appalachian Sunset II
The Great Smoky Mountains lay before the setting sun on an autumn evening at Clingman's Dome in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The sun appears as a large yellow disc, casting warm rays over the peaks of the mountains. The sky is painted in a gradient of red, orange, and pink, creating a vivid contrast with the blue and purple hues of the mountains. The use of a telephoto lens flattens the image to large, graphic shapes, showcasing the natural beauty and grandeur of this stunning landscape.
